Recently, while working on a home design in South Carolina, I revisited the memory of my grandmother and the youthful times I spent with her crafting little footstools from vegetable cans.
As the design for this project included several small footstools, I was always on the lookout for something that would work. After rejecting several antique pieces for one reason or another, I decided it would be easier to design and make new ones.
Fortunately, in my collection of assorted things that should have been thrown away long ago, I still had a “can stool” that we had made together. Using its basic shape I developed the round pieces for my collection … inspiration always has to come from somewhere.
